Economic Highlights
In the US, most of the attention will be on June’s non-farm payroll report. Early survey data indicated the fastest job growth in over a year, raising expectations for another strong result. Other important releases include factory orders and trade data. These will each help investors measure the impact of recent trade tariffs. In Canada, May’s trade data is due and will be watched for signs of how the US tariffs are affecting growth in the second quarter of 2025.
Over in Europe, the eurozone will release its flash inflation figures for June. Recent PMI data suggested that prices are still rising at a pace close to the ECB’s 2% target. This supports the possibility of additional rate cuts later on this year. In the UK, markets will be looking at updated first-quarter GDP results, as well as data on house prices, mortgage lending, and approvals. Germany will also publish its unemployment rate, giving an update on the health of its job market.
Across the Asia-Pacific region, June’s PMI figures from China will be closely followed. Meanwhile, Japan’s quarterly Tankan survey will provide fresh insights into business confidence, with consumer sentiment data also expected. Australia releases its trade data for May, while India updates its industrial production numbers. Lastly, inflation figures are also due from Indonesia and the Philippines, offering an overview of current regional price pressures.
